I am a recent college graduate serving as a seasonal biological technician (aka nomadic conservationist) until I go back to grad school. I work primarily with endangered species, and have worked in Arizona, Alaska, North Carolina, New Orleans, New Mexico, Washington, Hawai'i, and Georgia. I get a lot of artistic inspiration from my work, but I also get a significant amount from music, stories, and legends. I believe that art and science can go hand in hand, continuously inspiring and complimenting each other.
I spent a year as a glass blowing apprentice and that was one of the most awe-inspiring experiences I've had, but with the economy the way it is, that position was only temporary. I've also dabbled a good bit in printmaking and photography while in school. I admire all forms of art really, but watercolor, although it may not be my strength, is by far the medium I connect with most closely. The properties of water are so wild and uncontained, yet manipulatable; always lucid.
